Dr. Berghout earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He went on to complete his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco.

After medical school, Dr. Berghout completed a rigorous 24-month podiatric surgical residency at Monrovia Community Hospital in Monrovia, California. During this time, he received comprehensive surgical training in both simple and complex forefoot and rearfoot procedures, ankle reconstruction and repair, ankle arthroscopy, and diabetic limb salvage. His residency also included extensive clinical exposure to biomechanics, pediatric podiatry, diabetic wound care, and rare pedal pathologies. As part of the Baja Project for Crippled Children, he participated in both conservative and surgical correction of congenital and traumatic pediatric foot deformities.

Dr. Berghout began his career in private practice in San Clemente, California, where he treated patients with a broad range of foot and ankle conditions. He has spent over 20 years providing comprehensive podiatric care. 

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Berghout is fluent in French and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Diabetes Association, the American Podiatric Medical Association, and the Utah State Podiatric Medical Association.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Berghout lives an active and family-centered life. He enjoys biking, hiking, pickleball, sports, music, reading, and volunteering through his church. Above all, he values spending time with his family.
